The Hole You're In

The Hole You're in is a forthcoming Lightning Bug Films production about a fanatical amateur golfer's descent into psychosis.

This abridged preview blends animatic and live footage to tell the story of Tim, a golf obsessed loner, and his slide towards oblivion. The seeds are sown in childhood as he is relentlessly pushed to be the best by his brutal, manipulative father. As a dysfunctional adult he slowly begins to crack under the pressures of everyday life and gradually marginalises his lover and friends, loses his job and ultimately erupts into violence.

The Hole You're In explores the long term consequences of frustrated parental ambition, the roles of relationships and career in defining self worth, the lasting effects of abuse and violence on the developing child, and the ways in which traumatic experiences in childhood manifest themselves in adult behaviours.

We are currently raising finance for this project and are actively seeking both investment and advertising partners.

Nightmare

Lightning Bug logo

Nightmare is an experimental short film that illustrates the lengths the individual has to go to in order to escape the constraints of the money driven, 'always on' culture we now live in. It documents the journey of a man who puts his life in a box, sets it alight then embarks on a Dantean quest of self-discovery.

The Traveller watches the elements of his old identity of mindless consumerism go up in flames - the watch and mobile phone that orchestrate his actions, the passport that tracks his movements, the credit card that traps him in a cycle of debt.

He descends into a polished metal Hades and journeys through the levels of the underworld encountering extreme characters symbolic of the vacuous society he has left behind, such as Phone Head whose telephone handset has melded with his body.

Light and sound combine to produce an intoxicating, hallucinatory effect in this stylised voyage through madness and the underworld.
